New Parking Lot Paving

- Outline areas and excavate approximately 2' below existing finish grade. Grading and compaction will take place to the sub base foundation of new parking lot.

- Once sub base foundation of the parking lot is leveled, we install 20" of new aggregates.

- The first 10" of sub base installation will be with approximately 10" of 2" crushed concrete and compacted in stages.

- Second stage of sub base installation will be with approximately 10" of 3/4 crushed concrete and compacted in stages.

- Sub base is left for approximately 30 days to ensure a good settlement. You can still drive on during this cycle.

- After 30 days we pave the parking lot using 4" of heavy duty roadway mix asphalt. Multi purpose asphalt specifications. First layer of asphalt is 2" of HL8 which is the base coat, heavy stone asphalt.

- Once the base coat cools down, we apply a bonding agent which is called SS-1 Tack Coat Asphalt Glue to the surfaces with a special spray wand system to ensure a proper even coat. A special spray machine should be used in order to get an even coat so all of the asphalt sticks. If not, you are leaving many week areas in the asphalt.

- After the asphalt glue is sprayed, we pave the second layer which is the top coat with 2" of HL3 Highway Surface Asphalt to all proper grades and slopes.

- Once paved, we check and log compaction ratio using a nuclear gage which will ensure that we meet or exceed 98% compaction.
